Our dark skies are some of the best in the UK. There is minimal light pollution and on a cloudless night you can see literally see thousands of stars and astronomical sights such as the Milky Way with the naked eye.
In 2011 Exmoor was designated as an International Dark Sky Reserve by the International Dark Sky Association. So why not take the time to visit Exmoor and look up?
Dark Sky Discovery Trail
During 2021, the National Park created a dark-night sky discovery trail. This short, mostly level, walk will take you on a mini-adventure onto remote moorland where you will truly discover the tranquility of Exmoor (Europe's first International Dark Sky Reserve) at night and, weather permitting, have a chance to experience the incredible stars all around you.
